We aim to give our children a complete educational experience, with outstanding academic teaching and to prepare them fully for the senior school of their choice. Our central belief is that our children should be happy and positively challenged in what they do, and they will achieve very high levels of success.
The Wissen place runs an innovative academic curriculum underpropped by the development of skills, attributes, and mindsets to help students find success in an increasingly unpredictable future, and support them in becoming effective learners. This approach is complemented and reinforced by our wide-ranging co-curricular and entrepreneurial programmes and aims to prepare students to flourish in a rapidly changing world.
Our School
Our infant program is available for children from 2 months to -12 months is intended to offer a secure place with experienced caregivers and registered nurses. We take care of your infants’ feeding, sleep, and developmental needs. Healthy first food options like organic cereals, mashed meals, and fresh fruit puree are also made available. We also welcome Nursing mothers and provide private nursing spaces for breastfeeding. Our trained infant caregivers engage your child’s senses through soft talk, music and other age-appropriate developmental activities. At The Wissen Place, we have developed an infant care programme anchored on Multi-Sensory Learning, Thematic Discovery, Music & Stories, Muscle Development and Self Exploration.
The early years is where our children begin to develop their skills, and knowledge-creating a firm foundation for learning which they build upon as they move up the school. Our children are nurtured and supported to develop a love for learning, creativity, and critical thinking. Class sizes are small and the children grow by exploring knowledge both inside and outside the classroom. Using a blend of the British Early Years Foundation Stage and the Nigerian Curriculum, we offer quality education and care in a child-centric environment manned by professional caregivers and early years’ experts. Our curriculum is split into the prime areas: personal, social and emotional development, communication and language and physical development which then feed into the specific areas of learning: literacy, math, understanding the world and expressive arts and design. Through play and structured lessons, our experienced and dedicated staff help the children to become successful learners, confident individuals, and caring contributors to society.
At The Wissen Place, we concentrate on developing the skills, traits, and mindsets that will inspire a love for lifetime learning that will benefit our pupils and allow them to flourish in a rapidly changing world.
Our programme built around the British National curriculum, guarantees educational excellence and promotes positive mental wellbeing, physical health, intrinsic motivation and creativity in all pupils. In the Primary School, children learn critical skills in a safe and supportive environment that encourages risk-taking and creative thinking whilst promoting academic rigour and high-quality learning behaviours. We instill values of high academic achievement, without compromising the need to play and let off steam.
Meet Our Head of School
Mrs. Echefu heads The Wissen Place. She brings in 20 years’ experience within which she performed a variety of roles amongst which are, Montessori Directress, specialist English Language teacher, Nursery Department Leader, Deputy Head Teacher, and Head Teacher. Her breadth of experience has led her to develop a strong belief that children learn best when they are having fun and are actively engaged.
Skilled in KS1-KS2 Education, Classroom Management, Educational Technology, Curriculum Development and Teacher mentoring. Mrs. Echefu is a firm believer in ongoing professional development and facilitates professional development for educators across Nigeria using both face-to-face and online platforms. In her spare time, Mrs. Echefu enjoys singing, acting, directing and creating online educational content for children.
